Rappahannock’s Junior Panthers earned the right to face the Bull Run District regular season winners in the junior varsity tournament with their victory last Thursday over Stonewall’s Generals.
In a low scoring, defensive battle, the Panthers got off to a rocky start, putting only two points on the board in the first quarter. Fortunately, their opponents didn’t do much better, tallying "just* four points

Apparently realizing that their hopes for a post season berth were on the line, the RCHS JV pulled together in the second period. Coach Gregg Waters went to his bench, finding another surprise there, this time in Richard Tribino. Tribino connected on three long shots to build the Panthers’ total to 14 while Stonewall floundered at nine. The General's “stone wall” crumbled
a little more before the half time buzzer sounded with Rapp ahead, 20-13.
But the home team wasn’t ready to concede defeat. The Generals launched one last attack to recapture the lead and with a minute left in the game, pulled to within one, 29-28. Thomas Rector came back to score
