Residents of Fauquier and Rappahannockcounties 'Ifiavfe' belferi s&'!ilbw to donate blood this year that the Fauquier Chapter of the American Red Cross will be unable to meet the needs of Fauquier Hospital unless many new donors are found, chapter officials reported this jweek.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Warrenton Volunteer Fire House on Thursday, March 8, between the hours of noon and 6 P.M. and Red Cross officials are urging everyone between the ages of 17 and 65 to consider contributing blood.
Last year the hospital used 1,354 units of blood, according to Mrs. Joan White, laboratory technologist at the hospital. The Fauquier-Rappahannock Chapter’s goal for the fiscal year that ends June 30 is 1,450 units; by last week only 567 had been donated.
The greatest demand at the hospital is for type 0 blood, both positive and negative, says Mrs. White. It is the most common blood type and therefore, the type usually required in blood transfusions. Fauquier Hospital tries to keep 60 units of
