Manassas Park, near the bottom of the regular season rankings in Bull Run has only won three games this year in district play. Two of these wins came against Rappahannock’s Panthers. The RCHS squad will have the opportunity to avenge these defeats ' when they meet the MP underdogs for the third time in the opening round of the Bull Run tournament at Rappahannock on Wednesday.
If they win the quarterfinal contest, the Panthers will advance to the semi-finals at Warren County High School on Friday, March 2, at 8:30 p.m. to face the winners of the Brentsville-Stonewall game, also played on Wednesday. For the $3 admission price, RCHS fans can also watch the 7 p.m. battle which will pit Strasburg, seeded first in the tournament, against the victor of the ClarkeGeorge Mason match.
Bull Run finals are set for 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at Warren High School.
At least one Rappahannock team is guaranteed to be there that evening. 'Coach Gregg Waters’ junior varsity Panthers finished 9-3 for second place in the district. They were defeated twice by Clarke’s junior squad whose 12-0 district record gave them the crown. The Bull Run Junior championship game w ill begin at 7 p.m.
