“That was a million dollar rain!”
The question is: Did it do a million dollars' worth of good or a million dollars’ worth of damage? The rain is the same as it falls on the land. But the plus or minus sign in front of the dollars is up to farmers and orchardists.
When rain falls on land protected by conservation practices, it seeps into the soil to grow food and forage crops, sustain productive habitat for wildlife and generate profit for landowners. Then the rain gently finds its way to the sea through clean streams.
