The second race on the card, a 2'/--mile open timber race, has 15 entries including Dr. Joe Roger’s Eden which will be ridden by Randy Waterman if he does not ride his own horse Handy Hill, which is also entered for this race.
The Rappahannock races are the first to try out the new central entry system being tested this year. Will O’Keefe, racing secretary for the Casanova Hunt, is taking the entries for the hunts that have opted to use this system. All but two of the nine meets are taking advantage of his services.
“The entries went very well today,” Mr. O’Keefe said Monday night when the entries had closed. “The horsemen seemed to eiyoy it. They just gave me the basics from last week and it only kept them on the phone for a very short time. This will be very good for relations between the racing secretaries and the horsemen.”
Each horseman who has entered a horse is sent an overnight sheet following the close of entries with a
listing of all horses expected to run at the upcoming meet.
