The Wakefield School basketball teams travelled to Manassas earlier this month to play Seton School.
The varsity game started at a fast pace with both squads putting points on the boards and fouls on the books. Fouls committed by the Owls turned out to be the crucial factor, as Seton converted over 70 percent of Wakefield's 23 violations into points. At the half, Seton was ahead by 20 and though Wakefield kept pace in the second half, the Owls’ efforts weren't enough to overcome that deficit.
However, the Wakefield boys did set a single game scoring record of 64. They were led by Russell Rowzie with 21. Doug Brooks with 12. Joey Tisinger with 11 and Paul Lackman. Lackman was tops in the rebounding category with 10. Final score was Seton 90, Wakefield 64.
The JV Owls won their first game ever by a margin of 48-26. Louis Poore of Washington was the high scorer against Seton with 15. He also pulled in seven rebounds.
