County Supports Coyote Concern
The Board of Supervisors on December 3 went on the record to support efforts by the Virginia Game Commission and Shenandoah National Park to control the state’s coyote population, should such control become necessary.
A copy of the county’s resolution of support will be forwarded to Delegate Raymond “Andy” Guest (R) and State Senator Kevin Miller (R).
Recently, one coyote sighting has been reported and one coyote has been killed, according to Rappahannock Game Warden Jim Bankston, who said coyotes can be killed on site because they are a “non-game species.”
Coyotes are native to western North America and closely related to the American wolf.
