The Board of Supervisors, by deciding to proceed with the hiring of a consulting engineering firm on the proposed landfill site, has done two things which are not in the interest of the citizens of Rappahannock County:
First, they have moved further toward spending many thousands of dollar^ of the county's money to look at a site that has been clearly shown by proper planning criteria, ‘by a. geohydrologist of over 30 years experience, by the District Conservationist of the Soil Conservation Service, and by the State office of the Soil Conservation Service (who discovered a geologic fault on the Margolis property), to be very unsuitable for a landfill. It’s a terrible waste of money.
Second, they have completely refused to involve the public in the decision of what to do about our solid waste. What criteria is in the public interest in choosing a landfill? What does
