CCRC retained the services of a hydrogeologist from Haymarket, Va., who went on the proposed site, Reynolds &aid. His conclusion: The site was unsuitable due to nearby wells, a sixacre pond adjacent and below the proposed site, drainage into two rivers and soil types. Reynolds said he hoped the report would eliminate the need for the county to complete its own “expensive report.”
Reynolds said CCRC also had spoken with Lew Walters of the District Soil and Water Conservation Service. He said Mr. Walters was concerned about unsuitable soils on the “majority” of the proposed site that could cause “severe seepage problems,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds said the Soil and Water Conservation service in the late 60’s had completed a report on the six-acre pond located on an adjacent property. The study was completed to determine why the pond would not hold water. The conclusion, according to Reynolds: An “overthrust fault” near the pond
