Hunters must check their game with authorized checking stations in the county. The checking stations are W & J Grocery in Sperryville, Baldwin Shell Station in Sperryville, Baldwin Store in Washington, the Flint Hill Storehouse, Williams’ Grocery in Chester Gap, Ben Venue Market, Blue Ridge Guns in Amissville, and Burke’s Store in Wood ville. On Sundays, holidays or in case of emergency, the Sheriffs Department will check game.

Bankston said that there have been many violations and complaints during the past few weeks. “I’d like to remind hunters that Rappahannock does have an ordinance prohibiting hunting with a firearm within 100 yards of any public road,” Bankston said.
