The CCRC Alternate Site Committee, said Chairman Lyt Wood, already has identified about a dozen potential sites. “Some of the sites,” said Wood, “have already been studied by county officials in past years.” He noted that since this work has already been done by the Soil Conservation Service, the Virginia Department of Health and former county planning officials, “the Board of Supervisors should avail themselves of this information and consider all prospective sites and alternatives objectively.” * In general, said Wood, the grading system that is being used is along lines of the weighted criteria applied by a joint citizen-official group of Culpeper County in selecting its new site. Those criteria were drawn up after studies of experiences in many other Virginia communities that have had to choose sites.
