The land, composed of eight different properties, faces Broad Run High School across Route 641 on its southeast border. Its southern border extends along Route 643, now envisioned as a major highway between Leesburg and Dulles International Airport, from Route 669 on the southwest to Route 641. The W&OD regional park trail borders the development’s northern boundary.
It is the third major housing project proposed in the Ashbum and Ryan areas in the past two years. With Ashbum Village and Sterling West, Ashbum Farm would bring more than 10,000 new houses to the area.
Add the houses in Xerox’s Poto- , mac Park project, proposed north of Route 7, and the number rises to more than 13,000 houses in the 33 square miles dubbed Dulles North by county planners. Only 1,043 people lived in that expansive area in 1980, according to the federal census.
