The annual members meeting of the Hospice of the Rapidan will take place on Thursday evening, May 30 at Precious Blood Catholic Church social hall at 8 p.m. All members are invited to attend. Election of board members will take place during the meeting. Pat Bankhead, president, will preside.
Peyton W. Kash, director of the Culpeper Department of Social Services, will be guest speaker for the evening. He will discuss the available programs for the community, and the cooperation that social services, legal aid and Hospice of the Rapidan must maintain for the betterment of the people involved.
Kash is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in history, a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a master in social work administration and was elected to Phi Kappa Phi honor society at VCU before coming to Culpeper. He was also eligibility supervisor for the Spotsylvania Department of Social Services for five years and student intern for the Virginia Department of Social Services, Central Office.
A membership table will be available for those members who have not paid their 1985-86 dues, which will enable the member to vote in the board election.
At the recent board meeting of Hospice, Vera Griffin was appointed volunteer coordinator for Culpeper County.
The Hospice of the Rapidan is a group of specially trained volunteers who provide care and support to the terminally ill and their families. They do not replace medical care, only offer supportive care for the primary care given a family. They offer services to the patient with a life span measured in months rather than years.
