The downs have been the work hours after school and the knowledge that sometimes everything just could not be done. “There are only two PE teachers, so there are only two coaches,” Dawson said. “I would suggest that anytime any teaching position comes open, that the administration try to hire someone not only to teach that course, but also someone who has had coaching experience. If we had more people to help, the kids would get more out of sports. ”
Dawson said that the coach who replaces him will be coming to Rappahannock at a particularly good time. “With the talent here now, Rappahannock should be in the regionals the next three to four years, and one of these next four teams should go to state and be a state finalist,” Dawson said. “The new coach will have something to shoot for.”
