He said that he is trying to follow the advice he has been giving his students at school. “I would tell the kids which colleges I thought would do the most for them in the present and in the future,” Dawson said. “By helping them that way, I think that maybe some of the kids will want to follow in my footsteps and become a coach.”
After he graduates, Dawson is planning on a job as a sports information director or athletic director at a larger high school or small college. His more long-range goals include an ultimate position as a college coach. “We’re not talking about overnight, but 10 to 15 years down the line that’s what I’d like to be doing,” Dawson said.
Even though he said his experience in Rappahannock has been great overall, Dawson said that he does not plan to. return as a coach and teacher. “I have to move on to accomplish my goals,” Dawson said.
