Rappahannock News Photo. Jane Bangley RAPPAHANNOCK HIGH INDUSTRIAL Arts students competed in the Northern Virginia Regional Fair on May 4 for the first time in the school’s history. The students competed with 33 school divisions and there were 791 projects submitted. Rappahannock students returned from Fairfax with eight trophies. “For their first year in the competition, this was outstanding,” said George R. Willcox, State Supervisor of Industrial Arts Education for the Virginia Department of Education. Willcox presented the trophies to the students last week. Pictured with Willcox is Rob Brown who won first place in woods technology. Other winners were: Mitch Burke, second in woods technology; Andrae Ford, third; Jarvis Fletcher, Thomas Walters and Brad Nicholas in tool/machine ID: Fletcher, first in the poster contest; Richard Yowell, second; and Doug Smith, outstanding ribbon.
