School Board
Applauded
To the editor:
The Rappahannock County School Board is commended for the manner in which they dealt with a difficult task - shaving $120,000 from a budget that already had no fat. Their support of our teachers in reducing the teacher wage and benefit plan as little as possible is applaudable.
Supervisor Hubert Gilkey is commended for his support of the School Board’s proposed budget and his rightful assessment that there is no room for cuts..
The remaining four supervisors are not representing the interests of the majority of citizens in this county. It is not surprising that 51 of the 69 teachers in the Rappahannock County public school system, or 74 percent of our children’s teachers, signed their names to a letter published in last week’s Rappahannock News which states that they wish “publicly to express a vote of no confidence in the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock Countv.”
