agree with Lane s position on the school budget (we do not), it is constructive to note that he has better reasons than selfishness to take that position. Foremost among them is the fact that Lane represents many people who don’t want their taxes raised because they, like the teachers, don’t make much money.
Like it or not, those of us who opposed the $120,000 cut should realize that a lot more people than Nelson Lane favored it. So if Lane’s position deserves a driveway full of nails, then there is a lot of dumping yet to be done.
Fortunately, nobody we know of deserves such treatment. It was a bad move that should not be repeated.
