Washington’s Planning Commission held a public hearing on the proposed historic district ordinance on Wednesday, May 22. The ordinance was drafted by the town council, and the planners made some revisions in the ordinance and recommended its approval by the council.
The ordinance authorizes the formation of a three-member architectural review board made up of town resident tax payers. The members of the ARB will be appointed by the town council.
ARB members will review plans for changes to existing buildings requiring a building permit or for new buildings in the town. The plans will have to conform to specifications on exterior style, design, texture, material and colors predominant in the town
