Fishing Update
Rappahannock River - Smallmoyth action in the upper river is good with largemouth in tidal area of the river improving to good. Some nice stripers being taken in the short, legal area between the Route 3 and Route 1 bridges.
Occoquan Reservoir - Producing some 2 to 3 pound bass on a crank-biats, and some nice crappie are still being caught.
Lake Chesdin - The water level is low and crystal clear but fish are biting. John Bell caught a 3‘/z-pound pickeral, Ricky Harrison caught a 4 pound, 10 ounce pickeral, Billy Adams netted a 6 pound, 7 ounce largemouth.
Saltwater Report
Smith Point - Huge blues still strong in the area with some more gray trout appearing in catches. Forty-two citations have been issued at Reedsville for Bluefish.
York River - Gray trout hot here - most are being caught on peeler crabs. Some croaker and spot mixed into catches. Hot spot seems to be in front on the Coast Guard Station.
Cape Charles • Black drum are definitely here! One boat had 10 on board in the 40 to 60 pound class, with one 97-pounder taken earlier in the week. Croakers and trout in the Cape Charles Harbor and out at the Concrete Ships.
