Buildings in area B of the town will be compared to architectural styles from 1900 to 1945. Area B, as defined in the proposed ordinance, will be “those properties abutting Mt. Salem Avenue in its entirety and all parcels on the south side of Business Route 211 and east of the lots designated as 119, and 115 on the Rappahannock County tax map for the town of Washington.” Properties 119 and 115 are presently occupied by the Black Kettle Motel and Avon Hall.
“Area A is everything else in town except that buildings with less than 25 percent of their first floor area lying within the town boundaries are excluded from this ordinance.” Buildings within area A will be compared to the architectural qualifications used from the tow n’s founding to 1900.
