Loudoun awards $1.7
million landfill contract
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors unanimously awarded a $1.7 million contract on May 20 to Perry ( Engineering Company for work at the county landfill.
Perry Engineering’s bid of $1,719,865 was recommended by government staff and was lower than two others from The Driggs Corporation ($1,735,000) and The Lane Construction Corporation ($2,460,000).
The company will be performing excavation, closing off the existing fill area, and other work in the first phase of the landfill expansion project, which county voters approved in a bond referendum last November.
Construction of the expanded area is expected to take 90-120 days, according to a government staff report.
Chairman seeks 7 th term
Saying experience is one his side, the chairman of the Fauquier School Board will seek appointment to his seventh term next month.
C. Hunter Ritchie (Lee District), a retired 74-year-old Remington contractor, said his 24 years experience on the board “is one of the biggest things I can add.”
The Fauquier School Board Selection Commission will meet June 21 in the Warren Green Building to reappoint Mr. Ritchie or to select another representative from Lee District.
Mr. Ritchie’s term expires June 30.
