Mary Jamieson asked the planners whether or not the ordinance would have any effect on present “eyesores” in town. “Regrettably not because state law doesn’t go that far, and let me just say that if a building is in bad need of a coat of paint, the architectural review board does not have the power to go and tell them they have to paint their house,” Wickens said. The ARB would only have jurisdiction over exterior changes to a building already in existence.
