Burke Family Reunion
Families and relatives of the late Charles Lewis and Bessie Jenkins Burke will meet on Sunday, June 9 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington for their annual reunion. Lunch will be served at 12:30. All family members and friends are invited to attend and bring a picnic lunch.
Ladies Auxiliary To Meet
The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Monday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the fire hall. All members and interested persons are urged to attend.
Honorary Fire Chief Contestants Needed
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department needs girls between the ages of 13 and 19 to run for Miss Honorary Fire Chief 1985. Girls living in the areas of Chester Gap, Huntly, Lake Front Royal, First Blue Ridge Mountain Estates and surrounding areas may run. SPTA Sponsors Sock Hop
And Playground Workday
The Rappahannock County Elementary School Student Parent Teacher Association is having a sock hop on Friday, May 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the elementary school.
Ths SPTA is also encouraging parents to help at their fifth playground workday on Saturday, June 1 beginning at 9 a.m. For more information call 675-3121.

Atitditions For Talent Showcase
RAAC’s annual Talent Showcase to be held at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday, June 29 will be holding auditions Tuesday and Wednesday, June 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. in the theater. People of all ages are invited including dancers, singers, comedians, jugglers, actors, poets and musicians. Strong emphasis will be placed on original work. Call 703-675-3193 for information.
Farm Policy Conference
A one-day statewide farm policy conference on farming with comr parative advantage in Virginia will be held on June 19 at the Holiday Inn/Airport in Roanoke, according to Birgitt Thornhill, Rappahannock’s Extension Agent, who also reports that the program is designed for an audience of farmers, agribusiness operators and farm organization and agency leaders.
Tiie Virginia-centered program is devoted to the future of farming and agriculture in Virginia. Speakers include farmers who are actively engaged in managing orchards, producing vegetables and raising cattle and sheep.
A $25 registration fee will be charged to partially cover program costs. Any interested person may attend.

Southern Living Cooking Workshop
The Southern Living Cooking School workshop will be held in Charlottesville again this year on May 30. Several ladies in the area are interested in attending and if you would like to go, please call the Extension office at 675-3619, and leave your name and telephone number. Carpool groups will be leaving Rappahannock around 8:30 or 9 a.m. and should return in the early afternoon.
