Decisions on recommendations to place a service road between the gym and track rather than beside classrooms and to provide additional parking were delayed by the board until further information can be obtained.
Board members were concerned about the proximity of parking to the school’s sand filtering system. If the service road’s location were changed, an additional parking area would be “too close” to the filtering system, said Chairman Beverly Massie.
“1 wouldn’t think that there would be enough traffic on the service road to cause distractions in the classrooms on the side of the building,” said board member Bill Oliver.
The board did not question the need for more parking at the school. “If we’re expanding, we have to be able to accomodate more people who want to use the facilities,” Massie said. “The parking situation is not good now when there are functions at the school.”
