Speech making, dedication of markers, music, presentation of Colors, honoring the Flag of the United States and the Flag carried by the American Revolutionary soldiers, the flashing of the marque on the Second National Bank noting “Jameson Day” and welcome to the President General National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, meeting distinguished guests, dining and greeting friends - all this marked the many activities of “Jameson Day” as proclaimed by Mayor Rosenberg of Culpeper.
May 14 was a big day and especially for the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter NSDAR who started making plans for this day more than a year ago. Many had a part in making this day a success and much of the credit goes to the main steering committee who were Mrs. Dale Metzinger, regent; Mrs. Edgar Puryear, general chairman and Mrs. Woodruff Kearns, arrangements chairman.
The ceremony at the Culpeper Masonic Cemetery was emotionally effective to the large group in attendance which included a group of students from Floyd Binns Elementary School, especially interested in history who were chosen to attend this historical event.
