weeks away, the Blue Ridge Hunt Show Saturday, June 1, at Foxcroft, is a prime j>rep event for many local horse owners.

This year’s show, the hunt’s second at Foxcroft, appears likely to be as successful as last year’s when the hunt moved the show to the Middleburg school and found its entries increased dramatically.

Breeding classes for thoroughbreds and non-thoroughbreds at Blue Ridge are often very popular as a prep, for horse and owner, for the Upperville show. Show manager Barbara Batterton feels this year’s divisions will be no exception.

Jumper entries are also high, according to Mrs. Batterton. This division and the sidesaddle classes are very popular for spectators.

“Bucky” Reynolds of Warrenton will judge the three-foot-six ring where the junior hunters, amateur owners, green working hunters and schooling jumpers will compete. Gene Pillion of Delaware, Ohio, will judge the breeding classes, Susan Shockey of Laurel, Md., will judge the pony ring and Kenneth Krone of Owings, Md., will judge the threefoot divisions.

A full day of classes is planned for the show, rated “B” by the American and Virginian Horse Shows Associations (AHSA and VHSA). Four rings will be running simultaneously. The hunter divisions begin at 8 a.m., the pony divisions at 8:30 a.m., leadline and short stirrup at 9 a.m. and breeding classes at 11 a.m. For more information on the show call show secretary Mrs. Harry C. Three days after the Blue Ridge show, Upperville begins. This show, known and loved thoroughout the country, is the oldest horse show in America.

For the 132nd renewal of the show things look much the same as they did last year, but there are a few changes in schedule and some extra classes.
