(conclusion of chapter one)
* * *
Thus ends chapter one of the little book, All of Grace, by Charles H. Spurgeon. There are several more chapters which will not be reprinted here. However, because we believe the book is worth reading, we will make photocopies of it available free of charge at our meetings. Some of the subjects covered are “What is faith?”, “Being bom again”, and “Eternal security”.
We are continuing to have meetings each Saturday evening at 7:00 at the Sperryville Antique (Flea) Market. Brother Estep is currently teaching a series of lessons on knowing God, and Brother Marshall is expounding the New Testament book of Galatians, which deals with the freedom we have in Christ and the responsibilities that freedom carries with it. In addition to these lessons we sing, pray, fellowship and have refreshments. We have no formal “order of service” or ritual that we follow, but we do conduct ourselves decently and in order.
In closing, consider a few thoughts on faith. What is it?. One good definition is that it is confidence in something. It certainly is not thinking that something might happen, but rather it is the assurance that something will happen. Therefore, the person who can say only that he hopes he is saved probably is not. “Without faith, it is impossible to please him,”, Hebrews 11:6. Therefore God has made it possible for us to KNOW that we are saved. “These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life”, I John 5:13. If anyone reading these words has a problem in this, perhaps God will help you through us. Please feel free to contact us. You may write to the Sperryville Anabaptist Fellowship, P. O.
