Interim Director Named
The 12-member board of directors at the Child Care and Learning Center has appointed Lita Remsen of Washington as the center’s interim director. Remsen has worked intermittently over the past year and a half as a teacher at the center.
• School Notice
This year schools were closed on eight scheduled school days because of bad weather. Seven of the eight days have been made up. To meet the necessary 180 school days, the last day for students will be June 7, 1985. Students will be dismissed on June 5, 6 and 7 at 2 p.m.
• Zounds! More Hounds
The Rappahanno' Hunt Club Hound “Perfect” has given birth to 12 healthy puppies. They are on Natalie Emery’s property in Woodville.
• Sperryville Business Council
The Sperryville Business Council will meet on Tuesday, June 4 at 8 p.m. in the Sperryville Antique Market. Interested businesspeople are welcome to attend.
• RCES Awards Assembly
The Rappahannock County Elementary School will have its annual awards assembly on Friday, June 7, at 9 a.m. The keynote speaker will be the Reverend Jennings Hobson, III, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church and dean of the region.
During the program, academic awards for outstanding achievement will be made to 7th grade students in the areas ol‘ history, English, mathematics, and science. For the first time, Presidential Academic Fitness Awards will be made to 7th grade students who have achieved academic excellence.
Awards will also be given to students for outstanding performance in the areas of physical fitness and attendance. Staff members with perfect attendance will also be recognized.
A new award has been instituted this year. The Principal’s Award - will be given to parents and community members who have contributed ^significant sqnount of time and assistance to the school during the current session.
The students and staff of the school extend a cordial invitation to all parents and friends to attend the program
