The annual meeting of the Rappahannock Historical Society will be held in the Society’s building on Friday, May 16, at 8 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to elect officers and members of the board of directors for the coming year. “It is important that all members attend as this is the most important meeting of the year,” according to Rex Lindstrom. “There are many items of business to be discussed and many questions to be asked relating to the welfare of our society,” he added. All members are urged to attend and interested individuals are invited to join.
Lions Club auction
The Lions Club will hold an auction on May 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington fire hall.
If anyone has anything to donate (except food or clothes), pick-up can be arranged by calling Guy Foster at 987-8939.
This is one of the Lions’ main fund raising events. The money is used in the community to help with the Rappahannock Athletic Association for summer sports and also the hearing and sight testing van.
Queen contestants invited
Any young ladies between the ages of 13-18 who would like to run for the Chester Gap Honorary Fire Chief Queen please contact Karen Williams at 635-3673 for additional information. Carnival dates are July 16-19.
Auction items needed
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department is asking for items that can be sold at an upcoming auction. If you have any items you would like to donate and have picked up contact either Bruce Williams at 635-4673 or Bradley Williams at 636-2627.
The date for the auction will be decided at later.
