Gina Dodson said, “I got to run

with the torch. Nobody else from my school did that.” “I .ran a race!” exclaimed Todd Smoot. Peggy Gallihugh enjoyed going because “I got to see a lot of people.”

“I liked throwing the softball,” commented Kim Stringfellow.

Teachers Debra Irby, Mary Ann Decker and Lois Atwood accompanied the students to the Olympics. Ms. Irby and Ms. Decker have attended the Olympics for several years and this was Ms. Atwood’s first experience. They agreed that the event was inspiring and they were proud of all of the participants.

Ms. Carroll stated, “The kids seemed to have a really good time and enjoyed it a lot. They all participated and they all came back with ribbons in their events. ”

“It gave them a chance to shine!” concluded EMH teacher Kim Roy.

The state Special Olympics will be held June 6-8. Thomas Brown, Michelle Jenkins, John Coombs and possibly several other students will be attending.
