When the Communi-Call operator answered, Mrs. Baker softly told her she had fallen and needed help. Leaving the line open with Mrs. Baker, the operator called two neighbors Mrs. Baker wished to be called when needed.
“Who knows when we would have found her without CommuniCall,” says Barbara Jenkins, a neighbor who responded.
The neighbors asked CommuniCall to summon the Washington Rescue Squad and to notify Mrs. Baker’s daughter.
When the rescue squad arrived, they quickly decided to transport Mrs. Baker to Culpeper Memorial Hospital. Still on the line, the operator notified the hospital to be ready for Mrs. Baker’s arrival.
Knowing that Mrs. Baker was in capable hands at this point, Communi-Call finally disconnected the line to Mrs. Baker’s home. Then, the operator called Mrs. Baker’s daughter again to let her know her mother was on her way to the hospital.
Following her hospitalization, Mrs. Baker returned home to her neighbors and her Communi-Call unit. With quiet understatement, she said, “I think Communi-Call is a wonderftil thing.”
