splits of the year finishing 4:37.7 for third. The boys’ 1600 team of Neil Burke, Rodney Grimsley, John Dodson and Dexter Freeman ran 3:53.6 for sixth.
Miss Spieker and Mr. Clemson were pleased with the performances of all the athletes competing in the meet. Those who placed and those who did not place still managed to get their best scores of the season. “They peaked for the District Meet which was the goal all season,” said Miss Spieker.
Athletes placing first through sixth along with relays placing first and second will travel to the regional to be held Friday, May 16, at Western Albemarle High School near Charlottesville. Competition begins at 4 p.m.
A school record was set at the District Meet by Anna Hudson in the Girls’ Triple Jump. Anna hopped, stepped and jumped to 29 feet 4 inches for the school record.
