To the editor:
I am writing this week in an attempt to correct the insufficiencies of my last letter, for somehow the letter must have reached the Rappahannock News in an incomplete form. 1 ask the readers for forgiveness.
I feel though that the letter conveyed much of what I intended to say, but through its incompleteness I have made a few angry. I wish now to balance the scale.
In a desire to do something in a positive direction, 1 met with an official of Fauquier County and discussed many possibilities for the disposal of residential refuse and sludge.
He informed me that they have their problems and are trying to cope with them internally and they feel we should also.
I questioned the possibility of building a joint waste disposal system for a several county area, but he cited a recent study of Fauquier, Loudon, Prince William and the City of Alexandria where this was discussed and the conclusion was it was not cost-effective.
Since there seems to be a price tag on life, this leaves only a landfill for Rappahannock County to use for solid waste disposal, which we do not have at this time.
We must listen to our Commonwealth Attorney and not allow the land application of our own sludge or
