Artist’s

program

applauded

The superintendent, the special services coordinator and members of the Rappahannock School Board heaped compliments on artist Dan Lewis at Tuesday’s meeting for his work in the artist-in-residence program at the elementary school.

And Mr. Lewis returned the praise, describing the youngsters as “just great. . .They’re like sponges. They absorbed everything I had to give out and more.”

His stint at the elementary school was funded through a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts in an application instigated by Laurie Marshall, former teacher and program designer for the gifted and .talented programs in the Rappahannock schools.
