The Rappahannock Elementary School sixth graders departed from the school at 8:45 on May 1. Destination — Charlottesville. The students toured the airport there and the plant where the Charlottesville Daily Progress newspaper is printed.
According to sixth grade teacher James Fountain, the idea for this trip was an outgrowth of a science unit on airplanes by teacher Greg Drescher and the school newspaper project under teacher Lucy Ann Maeyer.
