The chapter has more recently become involved in a lawsuit brought in 1984 by the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies against the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County. The suit, tentatively scheduled for a hearing on July 11, concerns the county’s lack of compliance with state regulations regarding animal shelters. Recent discussions have included the feasibility of locating the proposed pound at Scrabble, and a public hearing on the matter has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the courthouse.
