One aspect was fascinating to many: The ceiling of one of the rooms was made of recycled paper.
Student Melissa Alther commented, “I thought it was really interesting that they used recycled paper in the ceilings. It’s supposed to be fireproof and soundproof.”
Ms. Maeyer’s class took a particular interest in the newspaper publication because they publish the school’s paper.
“They put information into a computer. They print it out. Then they cut it out and lay it out and take a photograph of it. They make a copy
with ultraviolet rays. This machine will print 31,000 copies an hour,” Ms. Maeyer explained.
“The machine cost more than $3, million and they paid for it in a year. In other words, they made at least $3 million profit in a year’s time,” she concluded.
After the newspaper office visit they ate lunch in a park and spent the rest of their time socializing and “having a good time.”
