Ms. Shenk estimated that her work at the courthouse will take about six more weeks. So far the documents in the clerk’s office have filled 87 reels of microfilm, with “about 1,000 images on each reel.” She estimated that by the time she is finished the records from Rappahannock County will have filled “over 100 reels.”

Although that may sound like a lot of pages, she said that in more than a year of work in Shenandoah County, she filled more than 400 reels of film, and the project in Page County involved enough documents to produce 300 reels of microfilm. “That’s a lot of page-turning,” she said.
