“Is it true that if somebody puts up a pole bam, you have to inspect the holes in the ground before the poles are tapped down?” asked Supervisor Lane.

“Yes sir,” Mr. Smet required. He reported that the county can contract with BOCA or a private firm to review blueprints but that this outside service could take from one to tlu-ee weeks. “People walk in now with a set of blueprints, and they expect to walk out with a building permit,” he said, noting that Rappahannock is the only area county that provides this same day approval. “Most counties take one to two weeks...There’s no way I can examine a set of blueprints in an hour. I’m not going to put my name on it.”
