Scouts going
to Philmont
Harry Kibler and Travis Sutherby of Washington will be among the 68 campers and eight leaders who will leave July 12 for the Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimarron, N. M. The Stonewall Jackson Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, of Waynesboro, will host a joint expedition with the Shenandoah Area Council of Winchester.
Philmont is a 214 square mile camp located in northwestern New Mexico in the Sangre de Criston Mountains of the Rocky Mountain Range. More than 400,000 campers and leaders from around the United States have hiked the trails of Philmont and experienced this rugged outdoor adventure.
Philmont offers the scout a memorable and exciting high adventure experience.
Leaving July 12 from the Daniel Middle School, Winchester, the group will return August 1. The schedule will consist of five days travel time out, 12 days at Philmont and four days travel time home. The trip will include visits to many scenic and historic areas in approximately 20 states.
