Sneak thief
swipes cash
Between three and four hundred dollars was stolen Tuesday morning from the cash drawer at the Parkway Gift Shop on Route 211 west of Sperryville.
According to Sheriff John Henry Woodward, the theft was not noticed until sometime after it had occurred, and few details were available.
Police were searching Tuesday afternoon for a small, light blue car, possibly a Datsun. It was described as having a broken windshield and damaged front end. The driver was described as clean shaven and wearing a cap.
Sheriff Woodward said that a person fitting that description had stopped at the store sometime before the theft was noticed and used the restroom.
Huey Atkins, manager of the Gift Shop, could provide no further details Tuesday evening.
