A Rappahannock County grand jury Friday indicted Harold Voyd Brown, 38, of Box 118, Syria, on a charge of first-degree murder.
The grand jury also indicted Brown on a charge of using a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with' the shotgun slaying of Aurelious Worth Timmons on June 7.
Mr. Timmons was shot and killed while standing on the front porch of his home on Route 231, 2.2 miles north of the Madison County line. The shooting prompted a two-day manhunt which covered southern Rappahannock and Madison counties.
Brown w'as named in a statewide bulletin broadcast by the State Police within hours of the shooting. He gave himself up to Madison County Sheriff s Department Lt. W. R. Jenkins on Monday, June 9.
