He is survived by his wife, Martha A. Smoot of Dickerson, his mother, Lelia B. Smoot of Culpeper, three daughters, Shirley Ann Swart of Aldie, Rachel S. Pierson of Charles Town, W. Va., and Elizabeth Moler of Ranson, W. Va., and four sons, Gideon E. Smoot of Midland, Kenneth 0. Smoot of Dickerson, Md., John J. Smoot and Jackie Smoot, both of Charles Town, W. Va.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Nellie Jenkins and Bessie Butler, both of Culpeper, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted June 24 at the Eackles Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W. Va., by Rev. Basil Day, Jr. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bolivar, W. Va.
Lucy Turner
Lucy Mildred Turner, 76, died June 18 at her home in Washington. Mrs. Turner was a native of Rappahannock County and a member of Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James A. Turner of Washington, four daughters, Anna Brahham of Philadelphia, Pa., Virginia Little and Lucille Head, both of Pitts
