VBS at Washington Baptist
Vacation Bible School will be held at Washington Baptist Church July 7-11 from 9:30 to noon daily. The school is sponsored jointly by Trinity Episcopal and Washington Baptist Churches, and all children ages 2-17 are encouraged to attend.
Innkeeper workshop planned
The Conyers House near Sperryville is sponsoring a workshop for innkeepers and would-be innkeepers on Saturdays, July 5 and 12, August 2 and September 13. The general discussion on the pluses and minuses of innkeeping will begin at 10 a.m. Attendance is limited. A complimentary lunch will be served. Ail herbal weekend
Faith Mountain in Sperryville is sponsoring a weekend of “Herbs for flavor, fun and fragrance” on June 28 and 29.
There will be demonstrations of potpourri and sachet making, basil, pesto, herb butter and vinegars, cheese balls, herb teas and hors d’oeuvres. There will also be free refreshments and an ice-cream making demonstration with plenty of free samples.
Voting for delegates
Pork producers who are interested in voting for a delegate for the National Pork Producers Delegate Body are asked to come by the Extension Office and vote between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon and 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m. during the week of July 7-11.
4-H junior camp
Students who have finished 4th, 5th, or 6th grades (ages 9-12 years) can still sign up for the 4-H Overnight Camp August 4-8 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center. The cost is $60, and you can come by or call the Extension Office at 675-3619. The deadline for registration is July 11. No late registration will be accepted.
Reunion planned
The descendants of Mark L. Weaver will have their annual family reunion on Sunday, June 29, at the Rappahannock Park. All are asked to bring a picnic lunch, which will be served at 1:30 p.m. For further information call Mrs. Cary Thornhill at 987-8876.
Business council to meet
The Sperryville Business Council will meet Tuesday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Carriage House Antiques in Sperryville. The barbecue will be rescheduled (piglet needs time to grow). All business owners and interested persons are urged to attend as there will be major discussions for the fall festival. For additional information call 987-8617.
Enrichment classes offered at CCLC
The Child Care and Learning Center is offering a full summer program for school age children and adults.
A workshop entitled “Our bodies as healers” began June 24 and will continue July 1,8,15, 22 and 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
An art workshop will be held July 21-25 at the Center from 9:30 a.m. to noon under the direction of Laurie Marshall.
Fun, fitness and fashion will be the topic of the workshop that will be conducted July 28-August 1 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Swimming classes will be held from July 28-August 6 at Clarissa Leggett’s pool. Beginners and intermediate classes will be offered for children 3-6 and 6-10.
