1) Purpose: The purpose of this ordinance is to prescribe standards for the design, construction or alteration of buildings located in Rappahannock County, Virginia which are:
a) used by the public; and
b) designed, constructed or altered by use, in whole or in part, of County funds; so to insure ready access, and use, by the physically handicapped.
2) Exemption: This Ordinance shall not apply to public school facilities.
3) Standard Established: Hereafter, any building or facility used by the public, or proposed for use by the public, which is de. signed, constructed or altered in whole or in part with County funds shall be designed, constructed or altered in accordance with Section 512.0 of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (1984 Edition).
4) Waiver of Standard: The County of Rappahannock reserves unto itself the power to waive or modify, on a case by case basis, the standard established by this Ordinance in accordance with Section 2.1 -520 of the Code of Virginia.
5) Authority: This Ordinance is made pursuant to Section 2.1 -517 of the Code of Virginia.
