This is how roll call goes every month for one of Rappahannock’s most prestigious civic groups, the Amissville Ruritan Club. The roll doesn’t sound prestigious not with the likes of Chocolate Pudding, Bing, King George, Ott, C. G., Hardrock, 4 o’clock, Chestnut, Shampoo, Butcher Boy, Ottie, Double Joint, Night Owl, and Tardy. But the traditional roll call of nicknames is the only thing these dedicated men joke about.
The Amissville Ruritan Club, the first member of Ruritan National in this county, has been servicing Rappahannock for 25 years. “Ours is a group of people interested in the welfare of the community,” says President Jerry Curtis.
