Queen contestants invited

Any young ladies between the ages of 13-18 who would like to run for the Chester Gap Honorary Fire Chief Queen please contact Karen Williams at 635-3673 for additional information. Carnival dates are July 16-19.

Auction items needed

The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department is asking for items that can be sold at an upcoming auction. If you have any items you would like to donate and have picked up contact either Bruce Williams at 635-4673 or Bradley Williams at 636-2627.

The date for the auction will be decided later.

Talent show coming

The Rappahannock Association For the Arts and the Community (RAAC) is sponsoring a talent show which will be held Saturday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Gay Street Theatre.

Family Worship to celebrate 4th

Special services will be held at Family Worship Center on Mt. Salem Avenue in Washington on Friday, July 4th. Rev. Curt Gibson from Roanoke will be the guest speaker and the service will begin at 10 a.m.

A special singing program featuring The Singing Word and other groups will begin at 2 p.m. Pastor and Mrs. Robert Dunphy encourage everyone to come and “celebrate the 4th with us at Family Worship Center.”

Choral celebration on Fourth of July

A choral celebration of religious and secular music is being planned prior to the fireworks display at Avon Hall on July 4. All county churches, their choirs and/or singing groups are invited to participate. All interested ministers and choral directors should contact William Carrigan at Avon Hall, P.O.
