Grimslev finished second on the challenging, 2.6 mile course, setting a new school record with a time of 20:48. She was followed by teammates Denice Eidson in third place

(21:50) and Kathy Dodson in fourth place (22:00). Annette Mueller (7th, 26:07) and Leslie Nichols (8th, 26:48) were the fourth and fifth Lady Panthers to finish, clinching the team’s victory by a score of 24 to 31.

Coach Spieker said that Leslie Nichols kept close contact with her teammates, adding that “I wish she had come out for cross-country in August - she has only been running

now for three meets. She was the most improved runner for the meet; knocking nearly four minutes off her previous timing in helping her team to victory.

“Bonnie, Denice, Kathy, Annette and Leslie all ran their best races today,” Coach Spieker concluded.

The boys team’s loss to George Mason by a score of 37 to 23 leaves their record for the season at eight wins and two losses. The Lady Panthers stand at nine wins and three losses on the year.
