The judge then suspended the sentence, “providing you obey the terms of your probation, make restitution and remain drug free.”
Judge Penn explained that the sentence to the Youthful Offenders Facility is an indeterminate one. “It depends upon your reaction, how soon the Department of Corrections will recommend release.” He added that the last year would be served on parole, so “it could be up to a threeyear sentence. Behave yourself . . . keep away from bad associates . . . and the court will consider shortening the sentence.”
